Review:
It is clear that this movie had a ton of hype and the movie can live up to all this .... Yada Yada Yada. Even assuming that this movie is a bit of a disappointment. This film shows that it was not just special FX that made fun to watch Star Wars. It was as if George Lucas was so excited about what he could do with CGI effects, he forgot what made the original trilogy so great, which is written and characters. Not a bad movie, but the problems are many.-Many people forgave this movie to be irrelevant, as they say it is only the first of another trilogy and is simply set everything to follow. Wrong wrong wrong, this movie needed to be its own film primarily as the other three movies were. He needed to have good characters and an interesting story .... he didnt.-The conflict in this story revolves around a trade dispute and the fate of the planet Naboo. He was really worried about it? The details of the dispute is a bit vague, and what is revealed is not real to generate enough interest for us to root for one particular side. The great conflict of Darth Sideous and its rise is kept away from the bottom. We do not even know why Darth Maul hates Jedi well .... It just does. Maybe Lucas wanted Darth Maul to be something like Boba Fett (silent and mysterious). He worked with Boba Fett, because he was only a supporting character, not the main villain. This film does not really have a clear villain. I wish someone would have had the courage and simply told Luke that his basic story was lousy. do not seem especially happy in this film. Qui-Gon is really the only character that can be related, and even though it is quite remote. The Queen acts as a mannequin in a large part of his scenes (and looks like one). Obi-Wan Kenobi wander through the whole movie for nothing, and never say anything interesting. The characters never seem to talk about anything except the plot (unlike the first film). C3PO and R2-D2 was very unhelpful. The Jedi Council emerges as extremely cold and buracratic. And I'll never understand why they wrote Annakin as an elementary school kid in this movie. He must be a teenager. His scenes with the Queen was weird. They will not even discuss Jar Jar.Various other things ...-midochlorians The thing seems to be just stuck. The mood drops unless you are a child extremely small. Annakin destroy the trade ship at the end and all safves basically by mistake! ILM and George Lucas seems to be so happy with their new toys CGI that they spent 95% of their time perfecting them. Frankly, I thought the FX in Return of the Jedi was sharper, more dimensional and less cartoonish. Nothing all that memorable seems to happen here. This movie may not have been as good as the hype, but could easily be much better than this. I waited so long for this movie, but the first time I saw this movie I really bored in the middle of it.There are good times. The pod race was fun, as was the lightsaber battle at the end. There are some very good special effects throughout. Hopefully Lucas only had writers block when he wrote it. Maybe he will remember what they did the other films so good time for Episode II. Although it appears to be broken the title already.
